My name is Rebecca McCaffery and I am a certified Irlen Screener based in Carlisle. I have been certified since 1st September 2020 and I provide Irlen screening and advice.
I have worked with young people with learning difficulties and disabilities for over 20 years. I began when I was 15, volunteering for the Riding for the Disabled Association, where I later became an instructor. Since 2005, I have worked as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in a large Learning Support Department in a Secondary School, where my knowledge and experience of a wide range of learning difficulties has grown. I have specialised in working with students with Dyslexia and reading difficulties and have taught small groups.
In 2010 I qualified as a Specialist Assessor and have been able to provide diagnostic assessments and reports. I hold a level 7 qualification (Certificate in Psychometric Testing, Assessment and Access Arrangements – CPT3A) which allows me to provide appropriate concessions for students for their exams.
All of this has led me to this point; I have a keen interest in helping and supporting individuals.
